About The Artist

Sue, “susie lynn” DeBruycker grew up in the suburbs of Rochester, NY, not far from Kodak brand corporate headquarters. “I recall being interested in photography at a very early age. Looking through photo albums was like reading a story, only without the words. I loved to look at every detail in the pictures. That sort of transformed me to the place where the photos were taken. As I grew older and got my first camera, I loved to take pictures of everything. Much to my Father’s chagrin, some of my favorite subjects were of stuffed animals. They were much easier subjects to work with than real live animals.”

After completing college, Sue went on to become a reading teacher. There she combined a passion for reading, along with her desire to work with children. She often used her camera at school, incorporating pictures into fun lessons for her students.

After her first child Maggie was born in 2001, Sue found herself snapping tons of pictures, trying to capture every little detail of her daughter.

Flash forward five years. After the birth of her third child Adam, Sue decided to get a bit more serious. Her film camera was replaced with a professional digital camera, and suddenly her beloved hobby was transformed into another career. Sue’s style can be summed up as clean, simple and fun. She works closely with her clients to find out exactly what they’re looking for. Then Sue uses her own style and creativity to build on her clients vision.

While Sue is a self-taught photographer, she wouldn’t be where she is today
if it were not for the support of her family and friends. Sue now resides in Roanoke, VA with her husband Mark, three children Maggie, Lily and Adam, along with her two dogs Shelby and Basil.
